Playful Resources

Today's post is inspired by Albert Einstein, who said:
Play is the highest form of research.

I found this amazing freebie over at Growing A Jeweled Rose; click on the image to go there and download it. Don't you just love how
to play keeps showing up?
It prompted me to share five playful resources
that crossed my path last week.

First off - this fun If You're A Kid clip:

I got to listen in as Mrs. Quigley tried it with her first graders and
 they were having a blast!

Second, this amazing blog post from  A Turn To Learn has dozens more of these energizers and brain breaks.

Third, here's one I found on Reagan Tunstall's Pinterest Board from You Tube for your dinosaur unit; it's Koo Koo Kanga Roo
and they've got lots more like it if you like it!

Fourth, click {here} to try some yoga poses.

Finally, Let's Play is a community partnership led by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group to get families across America active and moving. The website has links to articles, project ideas, and a grant that could help fix up your local playground. Here's to the inner child in all of us;
don't forget to let him or her enJOY some playtime!

  1. This is a great quote. Playing really does teach kids a lot of lessons, including lessons about teamwork.

  2. I love all the brain breaks. I use them in my room, but I don't have technology to help me out. I'm looking forward to using some of these great youtube clips once I have the tools I need.

  3. Barbara, can I 3-hole punch you and put you in my Resources & Referals binder? You always amaze me with how you can throw out 5-10 links that relate to your daily post!!! Per feedback that I received from a survey I asked my teachers to respond to (about how I'm meeting their and student & family needs), I'm going to be writing a short article every month (just for the teachers) that is research based and helps them to understand/respond to student behavior more effectively. I'm definitely going to do one on brain breaks. All of your links have been immensely helpful in getting my started. Thanks so much!
