Bucket Filling Is Berry Fun!

Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music!

It's blueberry time again at Moorhead Farms, so we spent a glorious hour on Father's Day evening filling our buckets with these tasty treasures!
Yum, yum . . .

So today, I'm baking these delicious blueberry muffins!

It also seems like a good time to celebrate my blog's {almost} 200 cyberspace collaborators who leave bucket-filling reflections when they stop by the Corner. Bucket fillers make wherever they go BETTER because they were there! So how about a giveaway?  Let's say I give away not one, not two, but THREE Bucket Filling books.  I've got copies of Have You Filled A Bucket Today? and Growing Up With A Bucket Full of Happiness, both author-signed by my friend Carol McCloud, so if you win, you'll get to choose.

Every comment between right now and Friday (June 22) at noon 5 pm (Central)
will equal ONE entry (just make sure to leave me your contact info.) - - - -
Are you still dancing?

Oh, and as a freebie, here's that Blueberry Muffin recipe:

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup blueberries

Mix dry ingredients; make a well in center and add eggs, buttermilk and melted butter. Fold in blueberries and fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full. Sprinkle batter with sugar before baking for a bakery crust.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

This giveaway is now closed. Check in on Saturday (June 23) to see if the Gruener Generator selected your entry. Visit Lesson Plans and Dirty Hands for another chance to win a signed copy.

  1. thanks for the wonderful recipe. Can't wait to try it. The blueberries remind me of one of my favorite bucket filling books, Ordinary Mary's Extra Ordinary Day, where Mary gives some blueberries and sets off a pay it forward random acts of kindness. And it all comes back to Mary.

  5. Our school celebrates character education each month through an assembly awarding the kids, but often they have NO IDEA what the trait means. I spent the last nine years in a Christian school where character development is huge! I have returned to the public schools and this coming year I really want to make an effort to spend more time developing charactere education in my classroom. I want them to know what these traits mean and encourage them to develop them. I look forward to using some of your ideas as I implement these lessons in my classroom.

  11. I love how you share so many excellent ideas! I'm a new counselor, so I'm always looking for good lessons & activities to implement! Last year, one of my No Place for Hate activities consisted of me reading "Have you filled a bucket today?" to all of the students at my school, having them sign a bucket fillers pledge, brainstorming ways to fill buckets, and decorating their very own bucket! I haven't read the other bucket filling book, but I'm sure it's just as good! Thanks for being so kind to share your books with others! Contact info: jencavender@gmail.com

Moved to Sheboygan 12 years old after being a flat lander for 10 years. I know how you feel--Darien was farm city--kids even drove their tractors to school every day. Memories..

It seems the concept is one that kids easily pick up on and carry throughout the year; and best of all makes a positive difference. Would LOVE to win! Ever had huckleberries? 26. I love reading How to Fill a Bucket. My kinders talk about filling each others buckets all year. I also use it as a behavior management tool. I have slips of paper that the kids write their names on and then at the end of the day I pull several to pick prizes from my treasure box or for a free kids meal. Thanks for filling my bucket with a great recipe.
