PPBF: Something Fishy

In honor of my friend Sally, at whose celebration of life service I found out just how much she loved to fish, today's PPBF is
a fishy tale, of sorts.

Title:  Something Fishy
Author:  Barry Louis Polisar
Illustrator: David Clark
Publisher: Rainbow Morning Music
Date: April 1, 2013
Suitable for: ages 7-9
Theme:  Fun fish facts
Brief Synopsis: Prepare to get hooked by this whimsical poetic look at an array of exotic and even endangered sea creatures.

Opening Page:

Why I like this book:  The illustrations instantly baited me and reeled me in to the unique and undersea world with which I was totally unfamiliar. I didn't really grow up fishing or care much about fish (except for the yummy fried lake perch that I enjoyed every Friday night growing up!), so this book was not only entertaining with its clever rhyme, but also educational with its
fun fishy facts

Resources: Use Something Fishy in a poetry unit or to compare and contrast on a double bubble graphic organizer with one of my other favorite fish books.
