Girls On A Mission

Happy July! So this past week, KTRK Channel 13 visited NASA to take a look at the WISH program and, sure enough, there's my hubby, John Gruener, behind the scenes conducting his signature fruit demo to get his workshop participants thinking about the relative sizes of the Earth, Moon, and Mars and the distance between them.

One thing I love about John is how passionate he is about space exploration and our future; he thoroughly enjoys the education and outreach part of his job.  This past year, he did two visits with my cyberspace colleagues via Skype, one with Jordon's class up in MO, the other with Reagan's class in central Texas. John thrives on these kinds of opportunities!

My favorite part of the girls' WISH week is that they will create a podcast based not on Space Science, but on NASA's Core Values!  How cool is that?

And speaking of girls on a mission, Jessica over at Mrs. Stanford's Class is celebrating 500 followers and she was sweet enough to let me join her wonderful giveaway!  Click the graphic below to enter for a chance to win a signed copy of Carol McCloud's Growing Up With A Bucket Full Of Happiness and TONS of other cool stuff!

  1. Just amazing! Wonderful for John and for young women ready to take on their future! I love it.

  2. Your husband works at NASA? I'm impressed. He must be quite a brilliant man. What a great opportunity to young girls.

  3. My students LOVED having John be part of our classroom. I would love to recreate that experience for my kiddos this year!! Thanks for being so wonderful!

I really enjoy hearing from my readers; thanks for sharing your reflections with us!
