The Giving Tree

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be on a break,
savoring and connecting,
and I am, I promise.
It's just that I have to share this idea before I burst.

Inspired by this bulletin board from the Kindness Girl blog that my friend Jennifer from Runde's Room sent to me,
I went to school today to create what I've been mulling over in my mind since she sent it to me a month ago.

Introducing ... The {Interactive} Giving Tree:

As the tree empties, we'll use these fun shapes to refill it.

Teachers, students, parents, visitors,
anyone can make a contribution to The Giving Tree.
Notice the pen and paper in the bottom right?

Well, one of my students came by as I was finishing
and check this out; she added swim lessons!
How cute is that?

This board is right outside my counseling office, so I plan on using it when kids come looking for something, but they can't put their hands on exactly what it is they need.
We'll go to The Giving Tree and see what might help.

Sometimes all it takes is an exciting new idea.
OK, back to my break.
Stay cool!

  1. Barbara-Dear:
I LOVE how this turned out! And I love even more that a "God-wink" moved me to check my computer.
    "Swim lessons." How precious.
Oh, how lucky those kids are to learn from you...
And how lucky I am to learn from you too!

  2. And how lucky I am when you stop by and leave your kind reflections at the Corner! Thank you.

Of course, I see that I must go back and re-aligned some letters ... but I was soooooo eager to share it.

  3. I LOVE this! I think I will do this in the middle school with my "new kids" that I have this year---"welcome back to middle school Mrs. K!" and help the kids help themselves to the giving tree!

  7. This is great! Thanks so much for giving me the idea last year of the interactive bulletin board with your Twister one... I'm so glad you put the close up pic on this one to show the swim lessons (I agree...that's adorable) because I was wondering how you thought of that many ideas for your stars. It didn't click to me that you'd need more than one for each offering! Duh! Love your replacement stickies. (Too bad there aren't "money trees" in our backyards...we do make hefty investments of our own funds for the love of our kiddos.) And yes, I noticed the pen. Love it!!!!
