Today was an inservice day, and we were treated to a visit by Sameer Hinduja, one of the cyber-safety experts from the Cyberbullying Research Center.
So much of what he said resonated with me because he addressed the social and emotional needs of not only the victim, but also the students who bully and the bystanders who freeze and don't know what to do or how to do it. He makes a great point when he says that we can put up fences, but they don't shape or change behavior. We must protect our kids from the inside out!

ReplyDeleteI can't find the link to the Burger King social experiment (anti-bullying ad) that I have used for several years from your blog. I've looked in my sent mail, in my links, everywhere! Do you remember what post it was in? I will be using it Monday!! I'm afraid it was edited somehow when your website was re-done....
Can you find it? I can't use the one on youTube because it has bleeps/bad language.
It is no longer in my posts because it was deleted by the counselor who was kind enough to edit out the bleeps! Maybe you can use TubeChop to edit out the bleeps? I actually showed it in two separate clips (I used iMovie), breaking right at the bleeps and then starting back up after the bleeps, so that's a possible option, too.
