Today, the end of July finds me reflecting on summer of 2025 finds.
I'm loving this app, which turns your pictures into coloring sheets.
Teachers, I see so much potential here; you could take first-day photos and turn them in to coloring sheets for a really fun display for Open House! Or, make a coloring book of yourself (or other key people on campus) and invite students to color the adults in their new school family.
It's pretty cool, really, to go from this ...
to this.
Or try Canva to cartoonize your photos.
was knitting at the time of her passing in the late 1990s.
Mom had planned to finish them, but life tends to get in the way,
so I finished them off and gave them to her when she moved into her new place, some twenty years later. Just look at how happy she is to get to see and then wear her mom's handiwork after all of that time.
It was this find that planted the seed for the new picture book I've been working on most of this summer. Our talented illustrator, McKenna Giamfortone, has finished her watercolors and they are brilliant!
Here's a sneak peek at my favorite page ...
While we wait, I've updated my #B2S picture-book BINGO sheet;
how many of these books are on your shelves?
Better yet, how do you use them to kick off a new school year?
