As we move toward the 4-year anniversary date of my brother's death,
I'm reflecting on what helped me adjust to life without Mipps.
And an integral part of that healing was time spent listening to music.
So I thought I'd share a list of some of my comforting favorites.
Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns
Almost Home by MercyMe
Glitter by Patrick Droney
I Will Carry You by Ellie Holcomb
When We Fall Apart by Ryan Stevenson
Hallelujah by Lindsey Stirling
Jealous Of The Angels by Donna Taggart
Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran
Heartbroken Hallelujah by MercyMe
Seventh of June by Anne Wilson
Amen by For King & Country
Goodbye by Toby Mac
Streets of Heaven by Sherrie Austin
Beat You There by Will Dempsey
Dancing With The Angels by Monk and Neagle
Of course, there are the time-tested hymns as well.
How Great Thou Art is a treasured tune to grieve by;
tears fall readily when Carrie Underwood belts it out.
These songs were on replay for me poolside,
through the longing and the languishing.
When there weren't any words. Just tears.
I sobbed through the profound pain,
softly soothed by every lyric,
every memory, every note.
So now, when I hear that someone is grieving,
I start texting links to these songs their way.
Just in case one strikes a chord and can help heal their broken hearts.
What's your go-to song to soothe your soul?
