Give Kind, Get Kind

So yesterday I started my 21-day challenge by watching my friend Mrs. Limmer put flags around our marquee, in remembrance. She is such an inspiration to me.
Then at our Principal's suggestion, Mr. Whitlock put this Tim O'Brien quote up.

For my first RAK, it felt amazing to fill a bucket at school {literally}
with two bags of miniature candy bars - sweet!

I have to say, however, that the kindness that came back to me was even sweeter. Mr. Sanders, our district energy guy, came by the school on one of his routine monitoring visits while I was waiting at my door for the next class to arrive. They were running a little late, so I left the door (with my Hen puppet on my hand) and walked to the copy room, where I'd seen the Aide go, to inquire as to their whereabouts. As I was returning to my door, Mr. Sanders walked out of my empty classroom and headed my way. "Hey, come here. I want to show you something." Busted! Or so I thought...
"I'm sorry. I just stepped away to look for my next class ... " was what I was explaining as he said, "No, this is really cool. Come see."
Still pretty sure he was about to give me gentle reminder to cut the lights if I'm not using the room, I walked into my empty office suite (have I mentioned the lights were on?) behind him and that's when he said this:
"Look around. Isn't this beautiful room warm and inviting?
If ever an empty room deserved to keep its lights on for kids, it's this one."

And at that moment, there were no words .....
and my bucket was overflowing.

So I wrote this poem, for Mr. Sanders:

Wonder if he'd come back and
