PPBF: Bedtime For Superheroes

Happy World Kindness Day; what's cookin' in your Kindness Cafe?

I think it'd make a fun activity for our learners to create a menu of things that they can serve from their kindness kitchens. How will you be spotlighting and celebrating that glorious game-changer today? In case you need some Covid-safe ideas, our friend Lis over at Ripple Kindness has lots of super creative ideas {here}.

Our PPBF would be a great read-aloud for today.

Why I like this book: With a BOOM! and a SPLASH!, the brilliant illustrations bring this dynamic text to life and make me want to find a class to read it to today! I love how the author sprinkled in some humor (bad guy goo) along with the everyday superhero ideals and connect with how she punctuated the fact that we simply cannot overflow where there is no flow by focusing on healthy habits and routines when it's time to wind down and take our capes off for bed. As a school counselor, I saw a lot of undesired behaviors masking sleep deprivation; research says that our elementary-aged children require 8-10 hours of sleep every night. What a fun way to help our youngest superheroes understand that they can make a difference in the world when they properly rest and restore. Shazam!

On that note, my superhero friends, I'll send you over to
Susanna Hill's blog for today's other PPBF picks.

How will you rest and recharge today?

  1. And I'm thinking that sleep deprivation behaviors continue into the teenage years. This sounds like a great book!

  2. You know how to pick them! And I love your song lyrics. Perfect for little superheroes who are always busy. Love the themes for the story and the beautiful cover. Great choice today. Didn't realize it was Kindness Day. Also heard it was Friendship Day, too.
