October is designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We had a pink-out at Friday Night's football game in memory of Betty Bell, a Spanish Teacher I'd worked with years ago who lost her battle with this invasive cancer last year. I love that t-shirt design!
Charitable organizations have gotten ever-so creative in raising funds to bring awareness about and find a cure for this cancer. This summer, my brother Mark took us on a tour of his friend Andy's home, also known as the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse in Milwaukee. Basically we spent a rainy summer morning in this unbelievable home that had been decorated by top experts in interior design, one room after another, an amazing array of style and flair. Carson-Dellosa is also helping to fight Breast Cancer. From their press release last week:
Carson-Dellosa Publishing to Donate up to $10,000 in
October for Breast Cancer Research
Greensboro, NC – October 4, 2012 – In 2012, it is estimated that over 226,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Second only to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, with the chance of a woman developing invasive breast cancer some time during her life at approximately one in eight.
Which is why Carson-Dellosa Publishing is donating $1 from every online purchase during October to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Carson-Dellosa will donate up to $10,000.
Founded over 35 years ago by two teachers and mothers, today Carson-Dellosa educational products reach millions of teachers, parents and children in homes and classrooms around the world. It’s no surprise then that issues impacting women are important to Carson-Dellosa.
“Nearly every woman we know has been touched by breast cancer in some way. These women are our customers, colleagues, teachers, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends,” said Judy L. Harris, CEO of Carson-Dellosa. “This is just our way of honoring women and contributing to an effort that is so deeply personal to all of us here.”
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide.
“The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is delighted to partner with Carson-Dellosa this year,” said Myra J. Biblowit, President, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “We believe this initiative will certainly help raise awareness about The Breast Cancer Research Foundation among the women they serve.”

Together we will find a cure!
Love the pink-out. I knew a lady who was able to hold her 1st grandbaby before she gave in to this horrible atrocity. It's so sad.
