You're A Grand Old Flag

One of the reasons we love living in small-town America is our 114-year tradition of uninterrupted Independence Day parades! We got up early to get Joshua lined up with the FHS Band for his first 4th of July experience.

This year's theme? You're a Grand Old Flag!

I carried the character cam so that I could
share our morning in pictures with you.

Here's our favorite pillar of character in the community,
the Honorable Judge John Ellisor.

This carousel was actually spinning around while music played.

The patriotically-decorated bikes always make me smile.

The Mighty Mustang Band Color Guard.

Joshua is the little French Horn player with the UT orange cap.

Our Texas bands all have these huge equipment trucks.

You're a high-flying flag . . .

Lots of Red, White & Blue.

Yay for the Volunteer Fire Department!

Check out this modified Edsel.

Thankful for this convoy of troops ...

and antique tractors.

Remember when?

Even a few Heroes from History came to Friendswood,

along with the USS Constitution.

And forever in peace may you wave!

  4. I remember marching in my first Friendswood Fourth of July Parade. It was the summer before 9th grade and we were all excited. I miss that! It looks like y'all had a great day!
