PPBF: The Art of Words

Today I'm thinking about the artsy potential of words;
this wall art from JoAnn's Fabric really resonated.

As a writer, I just love it when words string together
to help me look at something in a new way.

That's why I've connected with today's PPBF
which has the art of words written all over it.

Title: The Art of Words
Author: Robert Vescio
Illustrator: Joanna Bartel
Publisher: EK Books
Birth Date: May 4, 2021

Resources: Find Teachers Notes from the Publisher {here}.
Read a review from NZ Book Lovers {here}.
Compare and contrast with Peter Reynold's The Word Collector.

Why I like this book: I'm so grateful to the publisher for sending this sneak peek at what's sure to be a huge hit with the teachers and caregivers of aspiring young readers. Brilliantly illustrated, this simple text beautifully explains all of the wonderful things that words can do, like this:

There are two pages about punctuation,
there's a sweet simile, and it ends with
the perfect personification, so I can
totally seen this gem as a mentor text.

Invite your students to have fun playing with words;
use Word Art to create a bubble of words that describe them.
We created a word cloud using our core-value words.

I'll never forget sweet Drew stopping, pointing at self-control,
and saying, "Boy does my mom wish I had more of that!"

Or invite them to create a mirror image of their name.

Check out this playful pick, then head over to Susanna Hill's blog
for her review of The Mess That We Made, a Flashlight Press title
I suggested as well, just yesterday, in my Earth Day post.

Oh, and in case you were wondering,
here's today's word art reminder:
