I Got This! I Have Bounce Back Superpowers

Today I'm thinking about resilience, the ability to bounce back.

PPBF: The Quickest Kid In Clarksville

Happy Friday; my retirement plant started blooming again this week, on the day that marked the anniversary of my decision to leave my school-house comfort zone and start my encore career, so it has me at once savoring and pondering.
Can it really be that it's two years already?

Six Poolside Picks

Today as we launch into week seven of our shelter-in-place situation,
I'm reflecting on how it'll feel to come out of our Covid-19 cocoons,
to show up again, to connect again, to trust again.

It has been a new challenge to press pause and build the capacity to do nothing but notice, rest, pray, eat, exercise, weed, watch and wonder, all the while keenly aware of all of the suffering in our world right now.

PPBF: The Love In My Heart

Happy weekend, dear reader, and thank you for stopping by the Corner.
Though it's a little tricky, I'm hopeful that you can tell that I'm smiling behind
this mask I made (from an old t-shirt) to wear while we wait for our
CharacterStrong Be Kind masks to arrive.

How are you spending your time during this quarantine quietude?

PPBF: The Boy Whose Face Froze Like That

Happy Friday the 13th; wait, is that an oxymoron?
I hope that you're staying safe despite uncertain times.

A Commitment To Growth

Today I'm contemplating change as I think about a little seed,
an unlikely place to plant {a crack in our back porch},
this healthy little sapling, and growing pains.

It surely gives Bloom Where You're Planted a whole new look.

PPBF: My Strong Mind

Happy Friday; are you on Spring Break this coming week?
The sun has finally peeked out and we've got a garden to plant.
It's always fun to revive this plot for another giving garden.

It calls us to be outside more, and gives us something to do,
to plant, to weed, to cultivate, to grow, to harvest, to share.
It serves as a strong metaphor for life, too:
What we plant will grow.

PPBF: How To Catch A Star

Happy Friday; today's PPBF is already fifteen years old.
How is it that I've missed this growth-mindset text until now?
And Kohl's is currently selling them for five bucks!

Pay It Forward Plates And More

We started today with our annual Lessons and Carols service in church; I love it when John's Brass band joins the winds and the strings to accompany the choir and lead our worship. Such a beautiful way to start the week.

This week, I delivered several Pay-It-Forward plates
to people in our community who serve.
Or to family and friends.

PPBF: Chilly Da Vinci

Lately I've been thinking about my #oneword2018, vulnerability. Then yesterday, I came across this Brene Brown wisdom and it struck a dissonant chord with me.

To ask for what you need. That's a hard one for me.
{I'm thinking maybe next year, I pick an easier word?!}

From Frailty To Strength

Today I'm still on a natural high from our annual Thanksgiving trek to the Texas Hill Country, a treasured tradition we planted twenty-one years ago.
